What Does a Pharmacy Tech do at Cabin Creek Health Systems?

As a Pharmacy Technician in training, you will build a skillset to prepare you for a multifaceted role, including but not limited to:

  • Managing Inventory
  • Receiving Prescription Requests
  • Counting and Measuring Medication
  • Managing Patient Records
  • Accepting Payments
  • Processing Insurance Claims
  • Patient Customer Service

CCHS is deeply-rooted in the communities of Kanawha Co, WV. Our pharmacies are tied to our Federally Qualified Health Centers with in-house pharmacies located in Dawes, Clendenin, Kanawha City, Sissonville, and soon on the West Side of Charleston.

The Program

 Trainees will complete a 6-8 month training program developed in-part by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and approved by the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy. This includes training on the job and at-home computer-based learning modules, totaling 40 hours per week. Completion of the program qualifies the trainee to take the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT), with completion granting a nationally recognized Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certificate.

Requirements

The trainee must either be a high school graduate or have their General Education Development (GED) Certificate. The trainee must also meet the employment requirements for Cabin Creek Health Systems, which includes a drug screen prior to employment.

Completion

Upon completion, the trainee will have satisfied all requirements to become a licensed pharmacy technician in the state of West Virginia. Cabin Creek Health Systems may also offer continued employment at the completion of your training and certification.
