Birth Control

There are many safe and effective birth control methods available to our patients and your medical provider can help you select a method that is best for you.

Before prescribing contraceptives, your medical provider will review with you the range of birth control methods available. To help you make an informed choice, you will learn about the various benefits, effectiveness, possible side effects, correct use, and how to discontinue the method.
In addition each of our health centers have medical providers that have been trained in the insertion and removal of Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs). LARCs, which include the Mirena IUD, are some of the most effective methods of birth control.
All CCHS sites participate in the WV Family Planning Program. Using income guidelines patients may be eligible for free or low cost birth control and comprehensive medical examinations; including screening and treatment for some sexually transmitted diseases. The program also includes health education and counseling.
Adolescents can also participate in the family planning program without providing any income information. Adolescents Family Planning visits are kept confidential and no information is provided about a patient without their written consent.
