Central West Virginia Area Health Education Centers

The West Virginia AHEC program is tasked with addressing rural health disparities in the state by bridging the gap between medical education and community health needs.
AHEC works to foster cooperation between rural communities and healthcare professionals with hands-on education for those students in the medical fields, and the recruitment of the healthcare workers of tomorrow.
Meet Director Adam Flack
Adam Flack serves as the Director of the Central Counties Region of the West Virginia Area Health Education Centers (WVAHEC), a role he assumed in 2025. He brings to the position a background rich in public health, with extensive experience in both grassroots initiatives and statewide leadership. His career includes work in worksite wellness, where he has operated at both the implementation and executive levels, as well as programs focused on supporting one of West Virginia’s most underserved populations, older adults.
Adam is deeply committed to aligning medical education with the real-world health needs of rural and underserved communities. He believes in creating transformative learning experiences that spark an “Aha!” moment for students, providers, and emerging health professionals—one that opens their eyes to the power they have to make a lasting impact.
When he’s not working to strengthen the healthcare pipeline, Adam enjoys exploring the hills of West Virginia with his wife, Kate, and their three children: Atlas, Arden, and Anna Laura.
